Barefield Dismissed From Team
It was reported this morning that Ken Barefield has been dismissed from the team for breaking unspecified team rules. He was the fourth leading tackler last season and started every game for the Jags in it’s three season history.
Barefield ends his Jaguar career with 114 total tackles, 63 solo, 7.5 TFL, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 interceptions. But his experience, knowledge and passion will be missed the most. However, the Jags focused their recruiting efforts in the secondary this offseason so from a numbers standpoint, the Jaguars should be fine.

what the heck happened with barefield ?
No comment from the school regarding the matter and no one I have spoken with knows or will divulge the information.
This is unfortunate… a reliable source told me that Ken bought some supplements from GNC that were not NCAA approved and was suspended for a year (senior year) by the NCAA. Ken was not aware that there were over the counter supplements that could land him in trouble. He will be helping the team as a graduate assistant with practices so his presence will still be felt. I hope the school does more to educate their players on NCAA rules to make sure this never happens again.
That is unfortunate. Lots of people immediately jump to conclusions regarding a school declining to state the reason for a dismissal. Unfortunately it takes something like this to remind us that NCAA rules are very broad and quite foggy on issues. Each year its a learning process; learning new rules, getting clarification on other rules and finding rules that was previously glossed over or did not apply.
I’m glad he will be a GA and hope his experience and guidance will benefit the others.
thanks for the info glad he will still be part of the program. #9 thanks for all those hits.watch em on youtube all the time
I hope some of the new players look at his film and how he played each and every down and take the same approach when they play.
